Gold, alongside cotton, is a major foreign exchange earner, unofficially estimated at around
20% of total exports. Uzbekistan holds
the fourth-largest gold reserves in the world. Uzbekistan has an abundance of
natural gas, used both for domestic consumption and export;
oil used for domestic consumption.
In the first quarter of 2022, Uzbekistan showed an
increase in construction work
by 23.1% more than in the same period in 2021. The growth rate of construction work in the first half of 2021 amounted to 100.1%. Of the total number of construction enterprises, 56.9% relate to the construction of buildings and structures, 9.9% - to the construction of civil facilities, 33.2% carry out specialized construction work.
